3 Powerful ways to overcome fatigue
Today I'm going to be sharing with you how you can overcome the three causes of fatigue.
If you're feeling fatigued, I'd like to explore with you the three areas in which you can work to help you to work through it. They are the physical, the mental or emotional, and the spiritual dimensions.
First of all, let's start with the physical.
This is the one where people go to mostly first. If you're feeling really tired, it could be to do with a lack of sleep. It could be to do with a lack of exercise or physical activity. Or it could be something to do with the food you're eating. Consider it - do you simply need to stop using your phone late in the evening and go to bed a little bit earlier. Do you need to just make sure you do your 20 or 30 minutes of physical activity every day - brisk walking or whatever it may be for you? Do you need to think a little bit more about the food that you are eating? Eating very high in sugars or an unbalanced diet doesn’t help.
That's the first dimension.
Secondly, it is the mental or emotional dimension
If your emotions may be the source of your fatigue and tiredness, it could be to do with a lack of acceptance. I like to teach an approach called acceptance and commitment training and acceptance is really at the heart of it. Another word for acceptance is just being open, allowing or letting things be.
Due to the huge changes happening in our society, there's a whole range of emotions coming up for many people. If you’re not used to accepting those emotions, you fight them. And that fighting internally is what causes fatigue.
No one's perfect at accepting their emotions. But you can start gently and kindly moving towards being kind and accepting of them.
And finally, what I’m calling the spiritual dimension
By spiritual, I mean your ongoing connection with yourself, each other, nature and the Universe.
In this dimension, there's fatigue or tightness that can come from trying to control life.
The universe is much bigger than our little, ego selves. And the more you try to control, and fix, and make life go the way you want it to, the more you suffer. If you just cast your mind back five or ten years I'm sure that way with the situation you're in now it's not exactly what you thought would be happening.
Things go in a very different way to the way you plan. And if you can make space to allow life to flow, it's a lot easier than trying to control.
If you want to reduce your fatigue and your suffering, see if you can notice the fact that you're trying to control things too much and it's that control that may be causing the stress and tiredness.
Truly allowing life to just be as it is, and be as you are, can help you to make peace with the moment and make peace with how your life is unfolding.
In summary
Working with your physical, emotional and spiritual dimensions not only to reduce your fatigue but also help to cultivate a rich and meaningful life. The secret is to let go. If you’re wondering how to do that, I’ll share some ideas with you about that in next week’s post and video! Stay tuned!
