What is mindfulness coaching?

Mindfulness is a present moment awareness with qualities like curiosity, self-compassion and mindful acceptance. Be being more mindful you improve your ability to focus, to have a clearer mind, to be more creative, more resilient and suffer from less stress and anxiety.

Mindfulness coaching consists of one-to-one sessions either on the phone, Skype or in person. In the session you have a calm space to think about your challenges, and learn a set of mindfulness techniques and a way of being that results in more mindfulness. Together with Shamash, you create a plan to integrate mindfulness into your life.

What is mindfulness coaching not?

Mindfulness coaching is not therapy. You would not need to share your past experiences in detail. Instead, mindfulness is about how to live in the present moment, and when difficult emotions, thoughts or challenges arise in your life, you discover how to deal with them.

What happens in a typical session?

I begin by listening to your challenge. I explore what bring you here. And then I guide you in different mindfulness exercises and meditations, if you’re happy with that. You’re in control so we only do what feels right for you. Some meditations are just three minutes long, others can be up to half an hour long, if that’s what you want.

How many sessions do I need?

The number of sessions is entirely up to you. The number I recommend depends on the reason why you’ve come to see me. Some people have just one session, other people have ongoing sessions. Typically people have 6-8 sessions, but it’s entirely up to you.

How does mindfulness coaching compare to learning in a group?

The main benefits of learning mindfulness one to one are:

  • You can go at the pace that feels right for you
  • You can arrange the sessions at times that you are available
  • If you feel anxious in a group, this can be a great way to start
  • Your questions can be answered immediately
  • The mindfulness training can be adapted specifically for your lifestyle
  • You can have as many or as little sessions as you like
  • You can do more of what works and less of what doesn’t work in the sessions

The only disadvantage is that you don’t get to hear from other participants in the group. But as you see above, that’s a small disadvantage compared to the many advantages.

Where are the sessions held?

Shamash currently offers mindfulness coaching in his office in Holborn, London. That’s close to Covent Garden, Chancery Lane, Farringdon, St. Paul’s and Barbican.

Most of my clients use coaching with Shamash for the following reasons:

  • Reducing stress
  • Reducing anxiety
  • Calming down mind chatter
  • Coping with chronic pain
  • Increasing focus
  • Reducing symptoms of stress-related illnesses

Who are your typical clients?

We have coached authors, celebrities, doctors, lawyers, senior directors and other high profile individuals. But we’ve also coached members of the general public who wished to learn.

What are your fees?

Fees are normal charged per session. Just send us an email for our latest fees.

Can I have a chat to see if this would work for me?

Sure! I’m happy to have a conversation with you over the phone to let you know if mindfulness coaching is right for you.

What if I can’t afford more that one or two sessions?

Then after your first session, I can give you complimentary access to our online ‘Live Mindful’ eight week course. And then we can have another session at the end of the online course to check progress.
