What is ACT?
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) helps everyone to live a more meaningful life. The approach is highly evidence-based, using specific approaches from acceptance, mindfulness, values and committed action to help to increase your psychological flexibility. Below are the training programs and events we recommend. Feel free to contact us if you’re not sure where to start.
What is ACT Training?
ACT training gives you the skills to both apply ACT in your own life and share it with others.
In a good quality ACT training program, you learn about the six flexibility skills, and do exercises and learn techniques to develop those skills.
Each of these six skills together make up your psychological flexibility. And improved psychological flexibility has been shown in thousands of studies to lead to a more resilient, richer and more meaningful life.
What is ACT Training online?
ACT training online is simply ACT training that is offered fully online. These trainings can be via video, audio or text.
Our online ACT training is called ‘ACT for Beginners’. It is offered via a series of video training sessions.
Most online programs in ACT are just recordings. However, if you do our ACT for Beginners course as a self-study program, you also join an online community. You are able to ask questions to the community as well as the teacher, which is myself, Shamash Alidina.
Pros and Cons of Online ACT Training
The benefits of online ACT training are:
You can learn from the comfort of your home or office
You can access high-quality ACT courses from the best teachers
You reduce greenhouse gases as you spend less time and money travelling
The disadvantages of learning ACT online are:
You don’t get to interact with others in the real world
You may prefer to learn in-person and so don’t get that experience
So it’s up to you. If you’re a bit unsure, you may want to consider starting with an online ACT course, and if you like it, go on to do an in-person training in ACT. That way, you can enjoy the best of both world.
However, I know in-person programs can be more expensive and not possible due to your work and other commitments. For these reasons, I would say doing ACT training online is a great idea.
