Rest in Spacious Awareness Meditation

The heart of mindfulness is awareness. And it's easy for us to forget just how magical and mysterious that awareness is. Let me explain why...

Awareness is a bit like air. It's everywhere. And because it's everywhere, just like air, it's easy to miss it. Or to take it for granted. So how do we tap into this magical nature of awareness?

The awareness we cultivate in our meditation is a loving, caring, kind, warm and ultimately effortless awareness. That awareness is healing, in my opinion. Why? Because when we pay attention to our body, minds and life in that way, we open up to what's there. And quite often our challenges are due to not opening up to the sensations that are present.

It's no coincidence that research in mindfulness is finding benefits for everything from anxiety to depression to even physical conditions like diabetes, heart conditions and the rate at which our cells age.

So I feel quietly confident to say, as a scientist, that mindfulness practice is healing on many different levels.
