The Power of Simplicity
/The Power of Simplicity
Have you read the book ‘Wherever you go, there you are’ by Jon Kabat-Zinn? If not, I recommend it.
The book has a great quote on simplicity. Take your time to read it:
“Voluntary simplicity means going fewer places in one day rather than more, seeing less so I can see more, doing less so I can do more, acquiring less so I can have more.” - Jon Kabat-Zinn
In an age where we have more access to everything, I think we all know intuitively that it’s easy to get overwhelmed by more.
So what’s the solution?
One solution is to create a daily habit in your life, whether it’s as short as one breath, or as long as an hour +, to meditate.
Why?
Because in meditation, you are taking an active step to do less. To go nowhere. To see less. To acquire nothing.
By making it a gentle, daily habit, you’re putting in place something to counteract the tsunami of more, more, more that our society showers upon us.
You then have a little oasis of calm to recharge, rejuvenate and renew. Happy days!
